Roof Replacement in Portland, OR — Repair-First and Honest
FixRoof.fast is a repair company. We recommend a roof replacement only when the shingles themselves are worn out and repairs have stopped holding. When that day comes, we do the replacement the careful way: full tear-off, honest decking work, and architectural shingles installed for Oregon weather. Restoration LLC, licensed Oregon general contractor CCB #261557.
Signs a Replacement Actually Makes Sense
A roof is a candidate for replacement when the shingle material itself is done — not when one detail has failed. Curling or cupping shingles across whole slopes, surfaces that have shed their granules down to a smooth shine, shingles that crack when you lift an edge, and leaks appearing in new places faster than old ones get fixed: those are the signs of a roof at the end of its material life. Damage confined to one area — a valley, a chimney, a wind-lifted patch — is a roof repair, whatever a salesperson says.
Our assessment is free and documented with photos. If the roof has years of life left, the honest answer is a repair or a cleaning and moss treatment, and that is the answer you will get.
How a Roof Replacement Works
The job starts with a full tear-off down to the deck — old shingles, old underlayment, old flashing. With the deck exposed, we inspect every sheet of decking and replace boards that are rotted or soft; this is the one moment in a roof's life when that work is possible, and skipping it buries a problem under a new roof. Fresh underlayment goes down, then new flashing at every wall, chimney, and valley, with drip edge at the eaves.
Architectural shingles are installed over the prepared deck, with ridge venting checked and renewed so the attic breathes the way it should. Pipe boots and vents are new, not reused. The site is cleaned of tear-off debris and nails, and we walk the finished roof with you — the same crew that photographs repairs photographs the finished replacement.

A replacement is a major purchase. The paperwork should be as solid as the roof.
Full Scope, Named Materials
The quote names the tear-off, decking work, underlayment, shingle line, flashing, and ventilation — so you know exactly what you are buying before anyone climbs a ladder.
Photos at Every Stage
The old roof, the exposed deck, and the finished roof are photographed. If hidden decking damage shows up mid-job, you see it before it gets covered.
Warranty Terms Up Front
Workmanship warranty terms are spelled out on the written quote, and manufacturer warranties apply to the shingles installed. No fine-print surprises after the fact.
Roof Replacement Questions
Straight answers from a licensed Oregon contractor.
How do I know if I need a repair or a full roof replacement?
Three factors decide it: the age of the shingles, how widespread the damage is, and shingle condition. A younger roof with damage in one area is a repair. Shingles that are curling, brittle, or losing granules across the whole roof will not hold patches, and that is when replacement makes sense. Our assessment shows you the photos behind the recommendation.
Do you tear off the old roof, or roof over it?
We tear off down to the deck. Roofing over an old layer hides whatever is underneath — including rotted decking — and adds weight the structure was not necessarily built for. A tear-off lets us inspect the deck, replace damaged boards, and start the new roof on a sound surface.
What shingles do you install?
Architectural asphalt shingles suited to Oregon weather, including GAF Timberline. The written quote names the exact materials for your roof, along with the underlayment, flashing, and ventilation work included.
What does the written quote include?
The full scope in writing before work begins: tear-off, decking repairs found at inspection, materials, flashing and vents, cleanup, and the workmanship warranty terms. If the tear-off exposes decking damage beyond what was visible, we document it with photos and discuss it with you before covering it up.
